AI Governance and Regulatory Frameworks

Private and public sector professionals – such as, governance professionals, compliance officers, privacy professionals, legal counsellors, IT professionals, data protection officers and board members – interested in learning about the basics of AI technologies, the main AI regulatory frameworks, and related compliance duties

With the increased adoption of AI technologies in organisational processes, a strong understanding of AI’s risks and opportunities, as well as the applicable regulations is needed more than ever.

Regulations such as the EU AI Act oblige public and private providers and deployers of AI systems to ensure a sufficient level of AI knowledge and skills (so-called AI literacy) among their staff and third parties dealing with the operation and use of AI systems on their behalf.

In this intensive course, you will learn and discuss questions such as: What are the practical implications of the AI Act in Switzerland and the EU? How can AI technologies be evaluated and managed in compliance with new regulations? How to develop AI literacy training programs and internal guidelines within your organisation?

• Become familiar with AI technologies, their risks and opportunities, by working through concrete use cases
• Understand the AI regulatory landscape, its practical implications, and resulting compliance duties for AI providers and deployers in Switzerland and the EU
• Gain insight into how to implement AI governance strategies within your organization, including the design of internal AI guidelines and training materials

DAY 1: FUNDAMENTALS OF AI, RISKS, AND OPPORTUNITIES

• Technical foundations and definitions of AI:
  What is AI, and what is it good for?
• Risks and opportunities of AI:
  Why is there a need for AI governance and the risks and challenges of AI?

DAY 2: AI GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORKS

• Overview of the regulatory landscape:
  What does the regulatory landscape on AI – with a focus on the EU and Switzerland – look like? What are the key requirements, obligations, and resulting compliance duties for private and public providers and deployers of AI technologies?
• From hard-law to industry standards:
  What soft-law frameworks are governing AI worldwide, and what are the main mechanisms behind such alternative AI governance methods?

DAY 3: INTERNAL AI GUIDELINES

• Successful AI guidelines examples:
  How can you successfully design and implement AI guidelines and training materials, in different organisations/units/departments?

• Optimum balance between theory and practice, with a focus on hands-on learning
• During all three days of the course, attendees will participate in group-work directed to develop internal guidelines and documents on AI literacy compliance, for use within their own organisations

A certificate of attendance will be delivered at the end of the course
